Dr Oz, 7 Layer Fat Fighting Dip Recipe, Defy Aging Show - Palovia Laser

Today's Dr Oz Show was called "Defy Your Age"  It was a show that was filled with great anti-aging beauty secrets, anti-aging products, and recipes to help keep you looking at your best.  One particular recipe caught my eye that I wanted to share on my blog.. "Dips" are one of my weaknesses and it's hard for me to stay within my "diet guidelines" when a bowl of dip is placed in front of me.. I have a feeling that I'm not alone on this!

The 7 Layer Dip Recipe is full of healthy ingredients that you don't have to feel totally guilty if you over indulge a little bit. That's my favorite part about this recipe.  It's healthy and looks delicious.  I can't wait to try this one out!  Here are the ingredients to the 7 Layer Fat Fighting Dip Recipe.

Dr Oz, 7 Layer Dip, Palovia Laser

  • Layer five - 3 diced tomatoes - Sprinkle on top of black beans
  • Layer 6 - 2 Cans of sliced olives - Spread olives evenly
  • Layer 7 - 8 ounces of 2% cheddar cheece
Dr Oz tip : A helpful tip that was given on Dr Oz was to alternate between chips and a celery stick.. You will eat less chips overall and celery is a healthy and nutritious way to enjoy the 7 Layer Fat Fighting Dip!

Palovia Skin Renewing Laser Treatment

I just had to add some info from today's show on this this blog post.  I'm at the age where crows feet are starting to appear and the Palovia Skin Renewing Laser is an at home treatment that I never knew existed.. In fact it is the only FDA approved AT HOME laser treatment for crows feet and wrinkles!  I'd be really interesting in trying this laser treatment to zap those wrinkles away!

I set out online to look for the laser and found it for much cheaper than what they said on the show.  I think today's show was a rerun so maybe the price has come down.  Dr. Kauffman told Dr Oz that the Palovia laser treatment costs around $450.. Initially that may seem a lot, but how much would it go cost to go to a dermatologist to get laser treatments? This is a one time fee that you can use in the comfort of your home... There are also over 20 customer reviews that you may be interested in reading..  Here is a link.. Palovia Skin Renewing Laser With Customer Reviews.

Cheesy Chicken Taquitos Recipe on Dr Oz - Defy Your Age Products, LCN Lacquer, Earth Kit

I loovvee Mexican food but it doesn't always love me..  I tend to overeat Mexican food to the point that I have to unbutton the top button on my jeans by the time I'm done..  Here is a recipe that appeared on the Dr Oz show that looked absolutely delicious but is made with healthy ingredients that has much less calories and fat.  This recipe will most definitely be a part of my rotation and I absolutely had to add it to my blog!

Cheesy Chicken Taquitos Recipe

Dr Oz, Cheesy Chicken TaquitosIngredients

  • 4 Cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano (I never had any idea that oregano was full of antioxidants.. I knew of oregano as a seasoning and nothing more)

  • 6 ounces of shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of chopped chives 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

  • Canola oil spray
  • 2 cups of Jicama guacamole (this ingredient was listed as optional, but I love Jicama guacamole)

  • Add the chicken and salt.  You can also steam the chicken if you would prefer to prepare it that way
  • After water reaches a boil reduce the heat
  • Cover the pot and simmer for 15 mins.  Cook until the chicken is tender but not fully cooked all the way through
  • Remove chicken and cut the chicken into small strips or cut into cubes
  • Mix the chicken along with salt, pepper, cheese, and herbs.
  • Heat up (lightly) tortillas on a griddle
  • Add filling to tortillas and roll
  • Secure the tortillas closed with toothpick
  • Spray the cheesy taquitos you just rolled with some canola cooking spray.
  • Bake the taquitos for approximately 10 minutes (in a cooking pan) until lightly golden brown.
  • After the taquitos are finished top with some of the Jicama Guacamole
Also check out the 7 Layer Fat Fighting Dip that was featured on today's Dr Oz Show.

Also on today's Dr Oz show in case you missed it was a segment called "Defy Your Age".  He talks about the Palovia Laser treatment, the Keratin Earth Kit, LCN Nail Lacquer, and more.  Here are some quick summaries on what he talked about.

    Keratin Earth Kit

Dr Oz did a segment talking about inexpensive ways to defy your age.  One of the products that they featuredd was called "Keratin Earth Kit".  The Keratin Earth Kit is a hair treatment that you can use at home that will moisturize dry and frizzy hair.  The keratin hair products that salons often use contain formaldehyde. (I had no idea!).

The Keratin Earth Kit contains a shampoo, conditioner, and sealer..  A guest from the audience tested out the  Keratin Earth Kit..  They showed a "before" picture and of course she suffered from dry and frizzy hair.  She later came out and her hair was super silky!

    LCN Nail Lacquer

Going to the manicurist to get your nails done can be quite costly.  A stylist was talking to Dr Oz on stage and she said that the LCN Nail Lacquer treatment is a great alternative.  Salons us UV lamps.  The LCN Nail Lacquer kit allows you to dry your nails using just a 60 watt bulb.  The stylist demonstrated the LCN Nail Lacquer and it looked super easy! Simply paint on the clear coat and hold your hand under the light for 3 minutes per nail.. That's it! You will have no chip nails for up to 2 weeks!  Nice cost friendly alternative that doesn't us UV light... I just had to add a couple of beauty tips.. I think maybe I need to start a beauty blog as well ;)

Ginger Salmon Recipe on Dr Oz :

I never really thought that you could make seafood in a microwave but after watching this recipe I may have to give this a try..   I know I should add more seafood to my diet but I never seem to find the time.  This quick and easy Ginger Salmon recipe that was shared on Dr Oz's August 31, 2012 should be a great option for when you don't have a lot of time for a nutritious dinner.  Here are the ingredients that they listed on the show :

    Ingredients :
    •  8 ounces of salmon
    • 5 slices of ginger
    • 1 orange
    • 2 cloves of garlic
    • Thyme
    • Cilantro (fresh cilantro preferred)
    • 1 pinch of salt and pepper
    • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
    • Orange wedge
    Directions :

Add the salmon to a microwave safe bowl.  Add the ingredients listed above on top of the salmon.  Squeeze the juice of an orange on top of the salmon. Place a hard plate on top of a microwave safe bowl rather than using plastic wrap.  Microwave for 4 minutes.

Andrew Weil's Anti-Cancer, Once A Week Pasta Puttanesca and Tuna Recipe Shared on Dr Oz Show

Today (August 4, 2012) Dr Oz, holistic guru Andrew Weil came on to the show to talk about holistic remedies and his "once a week" meal to eat to help prevent cancer.  The "anti-cancer" in which Andrew Weil was referring to was called his "Pasta Puttanesca With Tuna"recipe. Dr Oz's favorite type of diet is the Mediterranean diet so he was very much on board with Dr. Weil's recipe.

Andrew Weil said that he eats the Pasta Puttanesca and Tuna recipe once a week.  He told Dr. Oz that he likes to cook his own meals because he finds that cooking is relaxing to him.  Listed below is the "once a week, anti-cancer" Pasta Puttanesca and Tuna recipe that  was shared on today's August 4, 2012 Dr. Oz Show.

Dr. Andrew Weil's Pasta Puttanesca and Tuna Recipe

    Ingredients :
Dr Oz, Whole Wheat Puttanesca and Tuna Recipe, Andrew Weil
    • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon of dried hot red pepper flakes
    • 1/2 cup of black olives
    • 2  tablespoons of capers
    • 3 mashed or finely chopped garlic cloves
    • 2 tablespoons of fresh basil leaves
    • 1 pound of whole wheat pasta
    • pouch of tuna
    • 1/4 cups of Parmesan cheese
    Directions :

    •  Mix together olive oil, basil, garlic, hot red pepper flakes, capers, and tomatoes in a bowl
    • Pit and chop black olives
    • Mix together olive oil, basil, garlic, hot red pepper flakes, capers, and tomatoes in a bowl
    • Add tuna to the mixture
    •  Cook the whole wheat pasta for 4 to 5 minutes (or according to the pasta directions). Don't overcook the pasta.
    • Drain pasta and then add it to the tomato sauce mixture
    • Top with Parmesan cheese and enjoy
I love pasta but have always shied away from it because of my fear of it making me to gain weight..  After watching so many episodes of Dr Oz I have realized it's ok if you have some pasta, you just have to make sure that you are getting healthy forms of pasta.. I used to get the processed (instant) noodles that really aren't good for you at all.. Opt for whole wheat pasta's and grains.

Did you enjoy this recipe? I can't wait to try it out.  If you have some other healthy alternative pasta recipes be sure to leave a message so we can all improve our healthy while enjoying delicious meals at the same time!

    • Today's August 4, 2012 Dr Oz show was actually a rerun from a show originally aired back in February.

All views are my own , and facebook, twitter, pinterest etc, are not affliates of this review, or giveaway. This is a sponsored giveaway, the sponsor is responsible for the prize and shipment.

    Review:

As I am sitting here my house is full of the amazing smell of white tea and cactus. This smells amazing! Such a light smell nothing too strong, it fills our house and it feels welcoming. That fits right in with the warmer, the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality. The warmer fits in with any room in our house, a light tan color it goes with everything. Our little ones are not attracted to a flame burning, it camouflages as a "lamp" that they should not touch :)

The scent last as an even burn , and out of all the scents she gave me my favorite was central park pralines. I love the smell for fall, it's warm and reminds me of home at thanksgiving or Christmas for the holidays.

I am impressed as this is the first time I have worked with Scentsy, I will be going back to get more bars, and when the kids are a little older I will be getting a wall plug in like the one I am giving away here today!

    One-Stage Breast Reconstruction

    To contact us Click HERE

With National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) approaching, I receive this news to share with you: the new, innovative one-stage breast reconstruction procedure. As seen on “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers”, this procedure allows one’s breasts to be reconstructed at the time of mastectomy in one single surgery.

Recently named one of Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Lisa Cassileth is able to reconstruct the breasts at the same time which eliminates the risks of multiple surgeries and, more importantly, helps minimize the sense of loss.

Dr. Lisa B. Cassileth is one of the few female plastic surgeons currently practicing in Beverly Hills, California. She brings her patients impeccable surgical techniques, an artist's aesthetic vision, and an essential feminine perspective.

Dr. Cassileth offers a wide range of plastic surgery procedures to enhance and refine the face, breasts and body. She performs leading-edge techniques that achieve exceptional aesthetic results, including SlimLipo and breast implant revision surgery. She also pioneered the Cassileth One-Stage Breast Reconstruction technique, which eliminates the need for multiple surgeries in breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy. Click here for her C.V.

Setting a New Standard in Breast Cancer Patient Care:

With more women than ever choosing to undergo mastectomy for the treatment or prevention of breast cancer, the desire for a better type of reconstruction has grown. With Dr. Cassileth's innovative technique (which was published in the July 2011 Annals of Plastic Surgery), breasts can be reconstructed at the time of mastectomy in one single surgery, allowing women to awaken from mastectomy surgery with intact breasts, and minimal or no scarring.

She says: "It's exciting and rewarding to provide a new choice for breast cancer patients who are undergoing mastectomy. Reconstructing the breasts at the same time eliminates the risks of multiple surgeries and, more importantly, helps minimize the sense of loss."

The Advantages of Cassileth One-Stage Breast Implant Reconstruction:

    - Only one surgery – lowers overall risk, decreases cost, and minimizes discomfort
    - Avoids months of painful tissue expansion
    - When you wake up from your mastectomy surgery, you will have whole breasts
    - The risks are the same or better than traditional tissue expander technique
    - Patients enjoy beautiful new breasts that look natural and full

Dr. Cassileth performs over 200 breast reconstructive cases per year, including nipple reconstruction, reconstruction implant revisions, and fat grafting. More than half of those 200 cases are primary breast reconstruction done at the time of the mastectomy.

Click the link to check out the procedure on national television program “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers” and to see incredible before and after photos, click here.

    Additional Treatments:

In addition to surgical techniques, Dr. Cassileth offers her patients a wide range of non-surgical anti-aging treatment options, including Botox®, Juvederm, and laser skin rejuvenation. She also offers patients a preview of their results with the state-of-the-art VECTRA 3-D imaging system.

    Why the Technique is Different:

The Current Standard of Care – Two Surgeries

Traditionally, breast reconstruction with implants requires two surgeries: during the first surgery, a mastectomy is performed, and a tissue expander is inserted. Over several months, patients have weekly, painful injections to inflate the expander and stretch the chest muscle. In the second surgery the breast implant is inserted. Patients are often left with disfigured breasts and large, ugly scars.

Dr. Cassileth’s Innovative Procedure – One Surgery

The mastectomy is performed through a small incision (rather than the traditional, long cut across the chest). Using a collagen matrix, Dr. Cassileth then designs and constructs an Internal Bra that will hold and support the breast implant.

Dr. Cassileth’s uniquely designed, hand-tailored Internal Bra enables her to place the implant and create the perfect breast shape and size, all in one surgery. Patients wake up from surgery with beautiful, new breasts. This technique lowers overall risk, decreases cost, and minimizes discomfort.

Lingonberry Recipe - The New Super Berry On Dr Oz Show

Well, if your like me you have never even heard of Lingonberries before.  Dr. Oz love's "super berries" for their potent anti-oxidant properties.  Well, on today's September 6, 2012 Dr Oz show Dr Oz raved about lingonberries and put them on the same level as blueberries as far as anti-oxidant powers go.  Lingonberries are little red berries that are in the cranberry family.  Research has shown that lingonberries are a potent anti-oxidant that can potentially fight cancer and prevent bad cholesterol.. Not to mention, they are delicious!

You can eat lingonberries just like you would any other type of edible berry. You can also consider making a delicious lingonberry smoothie!  Other alternatives would be to mash up the lingonberries, mix in a small amount of stevia and spread them on sandwiches like jelly! Now, that would be a healthy snack for you and your family!

Dr Oz, Lingonberry Smoothie Recipe, Lingonberry Jam

    Dr Oz Lingonberry Smoothie Recipe

    • 3/4 cups of ice
    • 1 cup of almond milk (they didn't mention what flavor of almond milk. They have plain, but I prefer vanilla flavor)
    • 1 tablespoon of Lingonberry jam
Simply put all of the ingredients listed above and blend.  If you are not certain on how to purchase Lingonberry Jam or where you can buy Lingonberries, I found them online.  After doing a little research and reading some customer reviews, people seem to love this super berry that is loaded with anti-oxidants.  Many people love to spread the jam on toast and bagels. Lingonberry jam seems like it would be a wonderful alternative to jelly which is loaded with sugar!

If you have tried a lingonberry smoothie or have used the jam in other recipes, please consider sharing your recipe by leaving a comment below.

    Kirstie Alley's Organic Chicken Dinner

Use a rotisserie organic chicken and baste it with beer.  She said the night before she rubs butter, pepper, garlic and sea salt on the chicken.  She bakes it in the oven at 350 degrees. She said that she keeps basting it with some beer during the cooking process. She likes her chicken to be brown and crispy. She also cooks baby potatoes with the beer basted chicken.

Kirstie loves baby arugula and puts it in a bowl and adds shaved Parmesan cheese to the top, and then adds some extra virgin olive oil and a squeeze of lemon or lime.  Kirstie Allen's Grocery Shopping Tip : Stay out of the center aisles! Try to do most of your shopping around the edges where all the fresh produce, veggies, and healthier foods are located.

Didn't Kirstie Alley look great?  I thought she did.  Do you think that you could adopt an eating style like this?  I absolutely think that I could.. I already eat breakfast burrito's very similar to the recipe show today.. Love tortilla soup, and even the beer basted Rotisserie chicken looked great.. I'm not good at only eating three baby potatoes however!  Have any comments about the recipes shared on today's Dr. Oz

Dr. Oz, Onion Chicken Nuggets and Meatless Taco Recipes by Hungry Girl Author Lisa Lillien on Dinner Swaps

Always on the go?  Tempted to feed your kids by throwing some chicken nuggets into the microwave for 2 minutes? While the temptations are there to go the quick and easy route, Dr. Oz invited Lisa Lillien on the show that it's just as easy to make healthy meals in a matter of minutes.  Lisa Lillien is the author of the infamous Hungry Girl recipes book..  Today, (Sept. 21, 2012) Lisa Lillien talks about dinner recipe swaps to use as healthier alternatives to  chicken nuggets, pizza rolls, tv dinners, etc....

Ok, I just want to say that these were some great recipe ingredient swaps that Lisa Lillien came up with.  I've used bran breadcrumbs on chicken before, but the rest I've never thought of!  Do you have any dinner ingredient swaps that you could share?  Please leave a comment before you leave!

    Onion Chicken Nuggets Recipe

I must admit that I am guilty of throwing in chicken nuggets for my kids on more than a few occasions.. This is a healthy dinner swap that I'm going to try!  Lisa explained to Dr. Oz that this recipe can be made in just 20 minutes.  Not only is it easy to make, but there is only 211 calories and 2.5 grams of fat per meal.  Compare that to the 490 calories and 26 grams of fat from a traditional serving of chicken nuggets! That's less than half the calories and about 10 percent of the fat! HUGE difference!  I will be trying this recipe very, very soon!

Hungry Girl's Meatless Tacos Recipe on Dr. Oz - Beef Crumble Swap

Beef is a mainstay staple in a traditional American's diet.  However, you can swap in "Meatless Soy Crumbles".. (this seems interested, but I'm skeptical).  Meatless soy crumbles are pre-cooked and she said that it's flavored to taste like beef.  The upside is that there is no saturated fat in Soy Beef Crumble".  She said that you can swap in these beef crumbles in any recipe that calls for beef.. Ok, I have to try these crumbles that Lisa speaks of!
